San Blas is the best kept secret in Panama. More than 300 islands in the Panamanian Caribbean. Inhabited by an indigenous community called Guna, they are an independent group from Panama. Going to San Blas is a unique experience in the world, however it is a very natural place, you will sleep in cabins with thatched roofs, without hot water or if you are more adventurous you can camp directly on the islands. If you want a bit of comfort you have the option of sleeping on a sailboat as well.
To get to the San Blas Islands from Panama City, you must take a 3-hour drive in an all-terrain vehicle and then take a short boat ride to the island of your choice.
